Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Super Cub Limited Edition

This limited-edition is one of a pair which have been created in collaboration with Honda’s world-renowned urban motorbike - Super Cub, popular since its launch in 1958.
The eye-catching retro style watch echoes the Honda Super Cub features.

This watch is inspired by the Honda Super Cub 110 motorbike.
The dial emulates the front of the bike, with the 12 o’clock marker shaped like the front headlight, the 1 and 11 o’clock indices like the front indicators and the Super Cub logo as it would be on the vehicle. A fuel gauge icon features on the crown, whilst the bezel showcases a 30km/h speed limit sign.
The accompanying Nato strap can be worn over the rider’s clothing – a favoured feature for motorcyclists to see the time at a glance with both hands on the vehicle.
There are 6,000 pieces of this limited-edition design available globally. Each limited-edition piece comes with its own special box.

The Case:

The Seiko 5 Sports SRPJ49K1 is housed in a 42mm stainless steel case that has been treated to a brushed finish. The case features a green unidirectional rotating crown that exhibits a 60-minute count up scale that is meant to resemble a fuel gauge. The grooved walls of the bezel ensure that it always remains easily operable. A push-down crown is located at the 4 o’clock position, it is flanked either side by crown guards, which prevent it from being knocked out of place. Lastly, hardlex crystal offers the benefits of being both scratch and shatter resistant. 

The Dial:

The dial is presented in a green and cream tone. It showcases a simplistic, easy-to-read layout through large applied indices and a silver framed handset, which are both generously coated in LumiBrite material which allows for nighttime visibility. A white 60-second track is printed on the chapter ring, which allows for a more accurate reading of the time. A silver framed date-display window replaces the 3 o’clock marker, whilst the Seiko logo is located underneath the 12 o’clock marker and the ‘Super Cub’ logo at 6 o’clock. 

The Strap:

The watch is presented on a utilitarian green/cream NATO style strap that is made out of textile materials and exhibits the Honda ‘Super Sub’ typography. The strap fastens through the use of a standard buckle that is crafted out of black PVD stainless steel. 

The Functions:

Seiko’s in-house built automatic movement, the 4R36, powers this timepiece. It is a self-wind and manual movement that offers a power reserve of 41 hours. It is water resistant to 100 metres, which means it can be worn when swimming in shallow waters.
