For over 100 years, Hamilton provided thousands of watches for the military. Today, we draw on that experience to create field watches for modern life. With a combination of lightweight functionality and military style, the Khaki Field Titanium Automatic is ready for action.

The case used on the Hamilton Khaki Field H70545550 is made from high-grade titanium. Titanium has the advantage of being both durable and lightweight, perfect for the dial and your wrist. The crown can be seen located at the 3 o'clock position which when pulled out one position allows you to adjust the time. Additionally, sapphire crystal glass sits in line with the case which provides the dial with protection and allows the piece to reside neatly underneath a sleeve.

The brown leather strap features white stitching down both sides to provide it with that classic look and feel around the wrist. The strap has a lug width of 20mm with a standard buckle used to fasten. For all you Hamilton fans the calf strap reference used is H600.705.125.

The black dial has a three step pattern with the 12 hour Arabic indexes being highlighted in their own inner circle. These indexes as well as the hands have been coated in a new Superluminova to emphasise the vintage military look and provide clear visibility at night. Positioned just below these indexes are more indexes in a 24 hour format, making the watch suit the needs of both parties. In the middle of the dial is the ever present Hamilton logo with a chapter ring around the very outside displaying the seconds.

 

The hands are powered by an exclusive H-10 calibre automatic movement. It boasts a superior power reserve of 80 hours and appears with intricate contrasting snail and pearled patterns for the American Classic models it drives and streamlined surfaces for the pilots’ watches.

 

This watch has a water resistance of 100 metres, making it suitable for swimming and snorkelling.

The Family: Khaki Field

The Khaki Field range pays homage to the Hamilton watches used by the United States military in 1910.

The Brand: Hamilton

Since its foundation in 1892, Hamilton Watch Company have developed a reputation for being a provider of accurate timekeeping. Hence they earned the title of “The Watch of Railroad Accuracy”, as a result of their highly accurate pocket watches.

Hamilton earned a place in history, as they found themselves suppliers of watches to the US military in both world wars. The US Naval Lab invited the Hamilton Watch Company to create an American made chrono. There was a shortage of chronos available to the US Government during the First World War. Therefore they had to rely solely on European made pieces.

For this reason Hamilton agreed in 1941 to undertake the work. Moreover, by 1944 Hamilton had produced more than 10,000 Chronometers in aid of the American War effort.

Hamilton have developed a close relationship over the years with Hollywood. Hamilton watches have featured in over 450 films, beginning in 1951 with the Frogman watch. Other films include: Elvis Presley in 1961’s ‘Blue Hawaii’ and in ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’. Furthermore, Hamilton have featured films such as ‘Interstellar’ and ‘The Martian’.

In 2003 Hamilton moved their headquarters to a facility in Switzerland. They are still a global force within the timepiece industry, this is because Hamilton watches offer a combination of American heritage, Swiss internal workings and a touch of Hollywood flair.
